Gencom Group Donates $10,000 to WAILUKU, Maui, Hawaii - April 9, 2007 - Today, Gencom Group and The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua presented a $10,000 check to Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports the health and wellness of the community by ensuring Maui Memorial Medical Center has the resources needed to provide the highest level of medical care. "The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua and Gencom Group are thrilled to contribute funds to the Maui Memorial Medical Center, as it is such an important landmark and a significant part of the community on Maui," said Javier Cano, The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua General Manager. Founded in 1987 by Karim Alibhai, Gencom Group has been a major player in the hospitality and related real estate industries. Currently, the company is recognized as an industry leader in the development and acquisition of luxury mixed-use hotels with ancillary residential components in key resort and urban markets, while maintaining an ownership and management role in full-service hotels and extended-stay hotels. In February 2006, a Gencom-led partnership purchased The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua, located at the heart of 23,000-acre Kapalua Resort on Maui. A multi-phase renovation of the property will begin in mid-2007. The newly designed guestrooms slated for completion in December 2007, will incorporate indigenous design elements that will reflect the rich cultural, artistic and historic traditions of Hawaii. Gencom has also developed a community benefits plan to support the Hawaiian culture and give back to the Maui community. The donation to Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation will be the first of several initiatives they will be spearheading in 2007 towards giving back to the Maui community.
