The Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation (MMMCF) is honored to kick off their 2006 Annual Appeal Fundraising with the announcement of the Dorvin D. Leis $150,000 Challenge. From December through January 31, 2007, Dorvin D. Leis of Dorvin D. Leis Co., Inc. has challenged individuals and businesses to meet his donation of $150,000 to the Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation. For the past seven years, this 501(c)(3) philanthropic organization has raised millions of dollars to bring new services and state-of-the-art technology to Maui Memorial Medical Center to help save lives and improve the quality of healthcare for our residents and visitors. In 2007, new equipment earmarked for Maui Memorial’s Heart, Brain & Vascular Center and other departments is being proposed, as well as continued support of various public education programs. "Maui Memorial’s recent expansion and their commitment to securing the latest state-of-the-art technology is a tremendous boost for the people and visitors of Maui," said Leis. "However, there are also challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for our island’s healthcare system. I encourage everyone to become involved by helping to support worthy causes like Maui Memorial Medical Center and other organizations such as the Malulani Health System, and the West Maui Improvement Foundation for the Lahaina area, which are sorely needed and that will enhance the quality of healthcare for our families. The Certificate Of Need, which is currently reviewed and required by the State, needs to be abolished so that we can move forward with Health Care systems in our State of Hawaii." To make a donation, contact Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation: 285 Mahalani Street #25, Wailuku, HI 96793; call 242-2630 or 242-2632; or email lcorrea@hhsc.org. All contributions are fully tax deductible. # # #
