Wound Care Takes Centerstage
Maui Memorial Medical Center's (MMMC) Wound Care Program entitled "Clinical Approach to Wound Management Strategies" attracted an enthusiastic audience on September 9-10. Held in the Auditorium of Maui Memorial Medical Center, over 100 healthcare professionals from MMMC, Hale Makua, Kula Hospital, Kaiser, Kona Community Hospital, as well as participants from Maui Community College's Nursing Program and Molokai participants, private practice and home nurses, physical and occupational therapists, nursing students and vendors attended the two-day conference which featured guest speaker Dr. Harriett Baugh Loehne, PT, DPT, CWS, FCCWS. As a Certified Wound Specialist through the American Academy of Wound Management, Dr. Loehne addressed a number of topics ranging from how to assess a wound, prevention and treatment, to therapy and advance modalities. The conference, which was sponsored by Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation, is part of MMMC's ongoing commitment to provide continuing education for Hawaii's nurses.
