Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation (MMMCF) recently announced the appointment of two new Board members - Mitchell E. Nishimoto and Kyle Kanoa Sakamoto. Nishimoto is the Vice President and Maui Region Supervisor for First Hawaiian Bank, in charge of overseeing the bank's eight branches within Maui County. He moved to Maui in 1988, and has been actively involved in a number of community organizations and causes. He has served on the Boards of Maui United Way, Maui Food Bank, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui, March of Dimes, Kiwanis Club of Maui, Ali'i Community Care, and also served on the Kula Agricultural Park Committee. Currently, in addition to MMMCF, he also serves on the Boards of Maui Chamber of Commerce, Maui Economic Development Board and is on the Maui Community College Chancellor's Advisory Council. Sakamoto is the Vice President and Senior Commercial Banking Officer for Central Pacific Bank. His responsibilities include the development of commercial and retail business relationship throughout the state of Hawaii, and research and designation of new branch office locations. Sakamoto is a strong proponent of giving back to one's community. In addition to serving on MMMCF's Board, he also serves as Treasurer for Maui Adult Day Care Center, Fundraising Committee member for Wailuku Shingon Mission's Fundraising, Vice President of Lokahi Pacific Rural Development, Maui coordinator for 2nd Century Scholars, and is a member of the Maui Young Business Roundtable. "Their professional expertise and their personal dedication to making a difference on our community is a tremendous asset to our Board and to the people of Maui." Nishimoto's and Sakamoto's MMMCF Board term will be effective through February 2009. Maui Memorial Medical Center Foundation (MMMCF) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), tax-exempt organization that raises funds for Maui Memorial Medical Center - the largest acute care hospital of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation (HHSC) and the only full-service, acute care hospital on Maui. Since its establishment in 1997, MMMCF has raised over $1 million in funds for the procurement of equipment and needed supplies and services which have contributed to the hospital's ability to provide quality healthcare for the people of Maui.
